Message from the pastor: Bro. Karl Roten
We at Open Door hope that you will experience life in new depth with God. We have started a new slogan for this year. It goes like this.... More of You, and less of me in 2-0-1-3! As Christians, our life here after salvation is all about becoming more like Christ.
I want to thank you for taking time to visit Open Door Baptist Church. . . electronically! We are very excited about our church, and we would like for you to visit us in person so that we can share that excitement with you.
Seems like I am always meeting people who used to be a member at Open Door. And when they ask me about it, I always tell them honestly Open Door has had some hard times and God has always been faithful to show He is still in charge and not anyone else. We continue to see Him working in the lives of the people He chooses to send here as they listen to His Word.
If you are looking for a church that is "not ashamed of the Gospel"....come by. Dress in casual or fancy clothes, either way you are welcome. Although we have a large building, we are not a large congregation. We are grateful for the unity and the closeness that God has given us. Nothing takes the place of an actual visit if you are looking for a church home. We are located at 2400 W. Oak St. close to the Westside Elementary School. We are not a program driven church however, we do offer a balance of ministries. Our Bible Study times are 9:30 AM on Sunday morning and 6:00 PM on Sunday evening. Groups for Sunday morning include Adult, College/Life, Youth and Children. We do provide a nursery when needed.
Our worship services start at 11:00 AM on Sunday morning. We also have a 6:30 PM Wednesday evening Bible Study for adults, youth and children. Children's F.R.O.G.S. Ministry meet at 6:30 PM. We are growing and we are praying God will send us some people to help us with the teaching. The Women's Ministry meets on the second Thursday of each month with a fellowship meal, devotion and ministry outreach focus.
Our worship music selections are a balance of Hymns and Contemporary style.Preaching is relaxed, informative, and life balanced.
If you like to know what the Bible says verse by verse, and hear it explained in a way you can understand it and apply it to your life this is a good place to be. We don't have any free gifts to give you, and honestly, we may or may not be able to help you much financially. But what we can do is what Jesus said to do before He left this earth and ascended into Heaven.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
If you are desiring to know more about God....and how to apply what you know....that we can help you with!
Sunday morning we are going through the Book of Acts.
On Sunday night we are discussing the "Healthy Church."
The Abundant Life sermon series is over but not forgotten! There are CD's available of the previous messages. If you would like to have them, just let me know.
Open Door is also the home of the Christian music group and Tate Recording artist "Recycled" who has ministered many places locally and overseas including the country of Hungary twice. In December of 2012 they traveled to Bulgaria to play a series of concerts as well as participate in other evangelistic and humanitarian projects.
